This is based on a piece I wrote with my writing group a while ago. It caught my eye when I found it again, and seemed right for this possibly false start of spring (sixty degrees Farenheit here in Ellensburg today…) and for week ten of Project Create (click here).
People Are Always Telling Me…
People are always telling me the craziest things. Like,
If you ate more greens, you’d be taller.
All the bees in the world are dying.
Dogs are reincarnated souls of Buddhist monks.
Love is possible.
The moon landing was faked on a Hollywood back lot.
Congress will solve this country’s economic problems.
They can never take away your education.
The Mariners will be in the World Series this year.
Hope is real.
People will always demand real books, no matter how cheaply Amazon sells the Kindle.
Real books are dead, as soon as the Kindle drops below fifty dollars.
There are seven billion people on the planet now.
Orange is the new black.
You look fabulous in that dress.
Joy is everywhere.
Men are from Mars, and women are from Venus.
Don’t even try; just – don’t.
You can be anyone, anyone you want to be.
The world will end in 2012.
Nobody knows the trouble I’ve seen.
Time is on our side.
You’ve lost weight, haven’t you.
Funny and sweet in turns.

I like the absurdity of these and the way it comes back to love at the end, which, in reality, is one of the craziest things around;-)
