Up late in my hotel in Bratislava, watching the live coverage of the rescue of the miners in Chile on the BBC. I can’t turn it off. It’s like watching rebirth as each man is pulled through the seven hundred metres of rock in that tiny capsule. It’s the kind of thing that reminds you of what matters most.
In some way we can all relate to the experience of coming out of a long time in the dark and finding the light again. With the help of friends and/or strangers. With a hand reaching in and holding you so you won’t fall.
Or at least I hope so. I hope we all know that feeling of a friendly rescue.
